NATIONAL DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY

Directorate of Technical Services


The general responsibility of this directorate is the procurement,

Operation and maintenance of technical equipments and the provision of sundry professional technical services.

 

The Directorate comprises of other Departments under it namely: 

Communications Department

The responsibilities of this department are:

  1. The procurement, allocation, installation, operation and maintenance of communications equipment such as:
  2. Radios,
  3. Walkie Talkies,
  4. Telephone lines, and
  5. Satellite/TV facilities.
  6. Liaison with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth functioning of installed facilities.
  7. Monitoring and ascertaining the credibility of contractual deliveries of communication equipment, where necessary.
  8. Perform any other function as the CCE may assign.

 

  1. Maintenance

The functions of this department shall be:

  1. The post-construction installation and maintenance of Agency buildings and facilities through direct labour:
  • Old buildings (Buildings already in use)
  1. Plumbing repairs,
  2. Re-painting,
  3. Replacement/repairs of electrical fittings/appliances,
  4. Replacement of interior decoration/furniture,
  5. Carpeting/rugging,
  6. Carpentry jobs/repairs,
  • New buildings:
  1. Electrical fittings,
  2. Carpentry/rugging,
  3. Interior decoration/furniture and fittings.
  4. Monitoring and ascertaining the credibility/probity of contractual deliveries, where applicable.
  5. Performance of any other function as may be assigned by the CCE.

 

  1. Projects and Works

This department is solely responsible for all architectural jobs, which

shall include structural design, reconstruction and construction. This

shall involve:

  1. Direct labour architectural responsibility:
  2. Structural design and reconstruction of old buildings/facilities,
  3. Turn-key (start to finish) structural design and construction of new buildings/facilities.
  4. Plumbing of new buildings,
  5. Electrical wiring of new buildings,
  6. Exterior decoration/land scapping of old and new facilities.
  7. Monitoring and ascertaining the credibility/probity of contractual performance in cases of contracted jobs, to ensure compliance with specifications.
  8. Inspection and profferment of advice on new estate matters.

 

  1. Workshop/Fuel

The responsibilities of this department shall be:

  1. Workshop:
  2. Maintenance of the facilities in the Agency’s vehicle repair workshop,
  3. Direct labour repairs of vehicles,
  4. Supervision of vehicle repair jobs contracted to external bodies.
  5. Fuel and lubricants:
  6. Purchase of fuel and lubricants,
  7. Maintenance/management of the Agency’s fuel dump,
  8. Allocation of fuel and lubricants.
  9. Electricity Generators:
  10. Maintenance and operation of electricity generators at the Headquarters, Command House, Guest Houses, as well as in the residences of principal officials of the Agency and other Agency premises, where applicable.
  11. Performance of any other duty as may be assigned by the CCE.
  12. Information Technology Department

The department shall be responsible for:

  1. Inventory of all computers in use in the Agency.
  2. Development of special software programs for the Agency.
  3. Ensuring the security of computer based data bank.
  4. Maintenance of the Agency’s computer hard and software.
  5. Development of computer training programs for the Agency,
  6. Plan and implement the computerization of the operational and administrative activities of the Agency in liaison with all relevant departments.
  7. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CCE.

 

  1. The Armoury Department

The department shall be responsible for:

  1. Inventory of all arms and ammunition in the Agency.
  2. Development of an arms handling policy for the Agency.
  3. The allocation and maintenance/servicing of all arms.
  4. Profferment of advice on all matters concerning arms and ammunition.
  5. Performance of any other duties as may be assigned by the CCE.
